he study is those cases in which it remains unclear whether there is a preservation or loss of the identity of the word, the splitting of one phonetic and orthographic complex into two or more words, or, on the contrary, the unification of different phonetic and orthographic complexes as phonetic and orthographic variants of one word. the scientific novelty lies in the fact that it involves an attempt to identify and distribute linguistic units with varying degrees of homonymization. the purpose of the work is to subject the vocabulary of the modern russian language to a systematic examination in order to find out which of the cases of divergence of meaning within the same phonetic and spelling complex are homonyms, i.e. appear as internally unrelated, formed as if “by chance”, as a result of some special combination of circumstances, and some as lexical-semantic variants of one word. to achieve the …
