he problem of borrowing. the socio-historical conditions for the development of european society developed in such a way that until the twentieth century, of all languages, it was the french language that provided the largest number of borrowings for other european languages. the english language has undergone a particular influence from the process of borrowing from french during its historical development. borrowing is a process as a result of which a certain element of a foreign language appears in a language (primarily a word or a full-valued morpheme). external borrowing is the result of interaction between different nationalities in terms of economic, military, social and scientific ties. as a rule, borrowing is accepted as a means of denoting new phenomena and expressions that have no analogues in the receiving language up to a certain point. also, borrowed words can be superimposed on already existing lexical units denoting certain phenomena. the …
