nd work 1. to analyse gulliver’s trevels 1. to consider his best works the subject of my course paper is english literature in the 20th century the object of my course paper is jonathan swift – his life and work. “gulliver’s travels” the course paper includes introduction, 4 chapters, conclusion and list of references. the main part includes 4 chapters. the 1st chapter is concerned with the ideas and movements surrounding language in the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries. in particular, i examine the tendency to consider language as having positive and negative aspects, and the results of this thinking. these results feed into swift's views about language, and later i will consider some of these, and their relationship to the rest of his works. in the 2nd chapter, i read a tale of a tub with reference to the idea of 'the book'. this allows for discussions of …
