ance learners’ vocabulary acquisition through engaging, student-centered activities. the research was conducted using a qualitative approach, including classroom observations, student projects, and teacher feedback. findings reveal that project-based learning (pbl) encourages active participation, improves word retention, and fosters collaborative skills among learners. moreover, students demonstrated increased motivation and confidence in using new vocabulary in context. the study suggests that integrating pbl into vocabulary instruction can make language learning more meaningful and practical for young learners. these results support the use of innovative, interactive methods in english language teaching at the secondary level. content i. statement of intent………………………………………………... ii. literature review………………………………………………… iii. research plan………………………………………………....... a. statement of purpose…………………..…………………………. 1. the goal………………………………………………………....... 2. the objective…………………………………………………....... b. method……………………………………………………………. 1. subject…………………………………………………………...... 2. materials……………………………………………………..……. 3. procedures…………………………………………………………. i. variables…………………………………………………………….. ii. steps of research………………………………………………........ iv. data analysis……………………………………………………... v. results and discussions…………………………………………… vi. final reflection…………………………………………………... vii. reference………………………...………………………………. viii. bibliography……………...…………………………………….. ix. appendix………………………………….………………………. i. statement of intent in the modern …

lary teaching strategies are crucial. this study intends to explore and implement project-based learning (pbl) strategies as an innovative and student-centered approach to vocabulary instruction. the intent behind this research lies in addressing the limitations of traditional vocabulary teaching methods, which often rely heavily on rote memorization, isolated word lists, and passive learning activities. these methods may not fully engage learners or help them internalize and use new vocabulary in meaningful contexts. by integrating project-based strategies, this research aims to create authentic and interactive learning environments where students acquire new vocabulary through real-life tasks, collaboration, problem-solving, and creative expression. projects such as preparing posters, role-playing, conducting interviews, writing short stories, or creating digital presentations not only motivate learners but also provide opportunities to use new words in context, thereby deepening their understanding and retention. the intent of this paper is also to examine how project-based vocabulary instruction can meet the …

settings, to enhance vocabulary instruction through innovative, learner-centered pedagogies. the study aspires to demonstrate that vocabulary teaching, when supported by meaningful projects, can become a powerful tool for language development, critical thinking, and communicative competence. in the contemporary educational environment, language learning is increasingly viewed not merely as the transmission of grammatical rules and vocabulary lists, but as a complex, dynamic process that supports the holistic development of learners. one of the most critical aspects of second language acquisition, especially in middle school learners, is vocabulary development. for sixth-grade students, this stage marks a transitional period where learners shift from foundational language acquisition to more complex, structured, and expressive use of language. the traditional model of teaching vocabulary—relying heavily on drills, rote memorization, dictionary definitions, and isolated word practice—has often proven insufficient in fostering long-term retention, contextual usage, and student engagement. in contrast, project-based learning (pbl) presents a promising alternative. …

al underpinnings of this study are based on constructivist learning theory, particularly the work of educational theorists such as jean piaget, lev vygotsky, and john dewey. these theorists emphasized the active role of learners in constructing knowledge through experiences, social interaction, and reflection. project-based learning embodies these principles by placing students at the center of the learning process. vygotsky’s concept of the zone of proximal development (zpd) is especially relevant, as pbl encourages scaffolding, peer collaboration, and guided learning—allowing learners to achieve higher levels of language competence than they could independently. furthermore, bloom’s taxonomy supports the idea that deeper cognitive processes—such as analyzing, synthesizing, and evaluating—are engaged when students work on projects, leading to more effective vocabulary retention. _________________________________________________________________ 2. hutchinson, t., & waters, a.
